2. Determination of oil content in aroma bearing crop/material by
Clevenger’s method.
3. Determination of concrete/absolute in aroma bearing crop/material
by soxhlet method.
4. Fundamentals of quality assessment of essential oils & aroma
chemicals.
a) Classical techniques

iii) Chemical tests
- determination of acid value.
- determination of ester
value.
- determination of combined
alcohols and free alcohols.

b) Instrumental techniques
includes-
- Gas chromatography (GC) and
- Thin layer chromatography
(TLC)

of essential oils and aroma chemicals.
6. Assurance of the
quality of test results.
7. Accreditation of the
laboratory practical demonstration of extraction and distillation
of essential oils.

demonstration of all the above methods will be done.
